Surface
preparation
Abrasive blasting
to Sa 2.5 (SSPC SP10) for new steel
Betapox Coaltar is compatible with most shop
primer. All damage of shop primer and
contamination from storage and fabrication should
be thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting.
Power tool cleaning to min St3 (SSPC-SP3) may be
acceptable for minor touch up work.
Application
Conditions
The temperature of
the substrate must be minimum 100C/500F
and at least 30C above the dew point
to avoid condensation. In confined spaces provide
adequate ventilation during application and
drying.
Subsequent coat
None, or as per
specification depending on area of use.
Remarks
- The
temperature of mixture paint is
recommended to be at least 150C/600F,
otherwise extra thinner may be
required to obtain correct
viscosity.
- Too
much solvent result in lower sag
and slower cure
- Thinner
should be added after mixing
components.
- The
best time for recoating and
overcoating is when the paints
film as still tacky.
Precautions
This product is
flammable, keep away from heat or open flames. As
general rules, inhalation of solvent vapors or
paint mist and contact of liquid paint with skin
or eyes should be avoided.
Forced ventilation
should be provided when applying in confined
spaces. Respiratory, skin and eyes protection are
always recommended.
